Fix Phoenix Point Crashing, Freezing, Errors and Graphics Issue

Overview: Phoenix Point is a turn-based strategy game developed and published by  Snapshot Games. The game released on 3rd Dec 2019. This is a wonderful game but there are many users who are facing crashing, freezing, different errors and multiple other issues with the game.  Please go through the steps provided below to fix crashing and freezing with the Phoenix Point game on PC.

Fix Phoenix Point Error code MD-0011, MD-0003, MD-0005

To fix Phoenix Point download errors do the following, one of the steps should help you fix the download issue.

  • Epic Games Launcher shows 2 instances of the Phoenix Point game, one is phoenix point content and the other is just phoenix point. Installing the one called only Phoenix Point should fix the error.
  • Close epic launcher from your system tray and restart the Epic Games Launcher.
  •  Change the file location from under epic games to desktop and try downloading it.
  • Open Epic Games Launcher, go to Unreal Engine on the left side and click on Install Engine.
  • If not fixed remove the ue4 version from the launcher, then close it, open task manager under process tab kill “explorer.exe”.Restart your system and try to install it again.
  • In case the issue still persists, uninstall Epic Games Launcher and reinstall the latest version.

Fix Unable to Launch Phoenix Point/ Fix Phoenix Point  Error LS-0013

If you are unable to launch Phoenix Point or receiving the error LS-0013, please do the following:

Restart Epic Games Launcher– Close the game if it’s open, exit out of the Epic Games Launcher. Make sure to check in the task manager that both game and Epic Games Launcher is closed. Restart your PC and launch Epic Games launcher- if there is any update available, let Epic Games Launcher install it. Launch the game from Epic Games Launcher after the update.

Run both Epic Games Launcher and Phoenix Point as an administrator– make a right-click on Epic Games launcher and the game exe. Select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, put a check on Run this program as an administrator and hit Apply to save the changes.

Do this with both Epic Games Launcher and game exe.

Note: In case the issue still persists then try doing the opposite, go to the Compatibility tab. Uncheck Run this program as an administrator. Do this with both Epic Games Launcher and the game exe. This should get rid of Error LS-0013 with Phoenix Point.

Verify the game files in Epic Games Launcher: If the above steps do not help you to launch the game successfully then verify the game files in Epic Games Launcher. To do so, go to the Library on Epic Games Launcher, click on the cog icon showing the dots and click on Verify.

Uninstall & Reinstall the Game: If none of the steps help you with the issue, sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling the game fixes the problem. Click on Uninstall as shown in the picture above. Restart your PC and reinstall the game.

Run Phoenix Point on Nvidia or AMD Graphics Card

This troubleshooting is for laptop users. The game is not supported on integrated Intel graphics. Make sure to run the game on the dedicated graphics card. To do so, make a right-click anywhere on the desktop. Click on Nvidia Control Panel, select 3D Settings on the left-hand side. Select Program Settings, click on Add and select the Phoenix Point exe from the list, if exe not available on the list, click on Browse and the game. Now select the preferred graphics processor as a High-Performance Nvidia processor. Click on Apply to save the changes and launch Phoenix Point.

Run Phoenix Point as an Administrator

Try running Phoenix Point as an administrator. Most of the times administrative rights help the game to run smoothly.

Add Exception to Your Antivirus Program

Sometimes an antivirus program recognizes the game as harmful files and blocks it from running. Make sure to add the game files to your antivirus program. You can disable the antivirus while playing Phoenix Point.

Update Windows Before Playing Phoenix Point

Phoenix Point is supported on Windows 10, 8 and 7. Please update the Windows so that all required windows files are available to play Phoenix Point without any problem. Press Windows + I to open Windows settings. Select Update & Security then click on Check for updates.

Perform Clean Boot & Stop the Apps from Running in the Background

Close all the apps and programs running in the background to avoid conflicts while playing Phoenix Point. To perform clean boot press Windows + R to open the run box. Type MSConfig in the run box and click on OK. Navigate to the Services tab, put a tick or check on “Hide all Microsoft services”. Now click on Disable all, hit Apply and restart your PC.


Also, make a right-click on the taskbar, select Task Manager, go to the Startup tab, make a right-click on each program and disable all. Now launch Phoenix Point.

Turn off V-sync

Turning off V-sync while playing Phoenix Point may fix FPS and screen tearing issues. If the issue still persists try turning on the V-sync and check which one works for you.

To fix the Phoenix Point download and installation issue with Epic Games Launcher, do the following. This will also fix connectivity issue with the Epic Games Launcher

  • Opt for wired connection.
  • Make sure ports 80, 443 and 5222 are allowed.
    Launch Control Panel> select System and Security> click on Windows Defender Firewall.
    Click on Advanced Settings on the left side of the screen.
    On the top left, click on Inbound Rules.
    On the top right, select New Rule
    Click on Port, then click Next.
    You can see a text box in front of Specific local ports, enter 5222, 443, 80, here and then click Next three times.
    Now in the Name box, type in UE4 and hit Finish.

Restart Your Mac

Sometimes a simple restart may fix multiple issues with Fix Phoenix Point. Restart your Mac and launch the game.

Delete the Game Cache on Your Mac

Corrupt and large cache files can cause multiple issues with the game. Clearing game cache should improve the game performance to a large extent. The cached folders are generally stored in the user or the system folder. Navigate to the Go >Go to Folder and enter /Library/Caches. Now delete the cache for Phoenix Point restart your Mac.

Repair Disk Using Disk Utility

Repairing the disk can fix multiple issues on your Mac including crashing of Phoenix Point. To do so, go to Applications > Utilities or Use cmd+space Disk Utility to open Disk Utility.

In the sidebar, select a disk or volume on which you want to run the First Aid, and click on the First Aid button.
Click Run, then click on Continue. Disk Utility will report that the disk seems to be OK or the disk has been repaired.

Reset SMC

Many Mac users were able to fix Phoenix Point crashing by resetting the SMC.

  • Shut down your Mac.
  • Press and hold the Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10-15 seconds.
  • Now Release all keys.
  • Press the power button again to start your Mac.

Now launch Phoenix Point.
